fashion sense
Mood:  not sure
Topic: lazy thoughts
This year has seen an explosion of new pampering products for man's furry friends, among the more unusual of which is a fragrance designed to neutralise the sexual scent of female dogs, a study said on Tuesday.

The products -- mostly aimed at cats and dogs -- also include weight loss supplements, sun screen and stress relief sprays, alongside cosmetics like nail polish and hair colour highlights, said the report by research group Mintel.

"For many pet owners, their animals are as loved and pampered as their own children, and deserve to be groomed and cared for with the best products," said Mintel spokesperson David Jago.

"On an extreme level, we have even seen products that allow pets to mimic their owners' beauty regimes."

Amongst the more unusual products, Dutch group Beaphar has introduced No Love Spray, a fragrance aimed at neutralising the sexual scent of female dogs.

If you just want to spruce up your pet rather than give him a new look, PT and Son's in Vietnam has introduced Bravo Dog Shampoo, which claims to be colour enhancing and specially formulated for black fur.

To protect pets from sunburn, Espree in Finland introduced Espree Knock-Out, a sunscreen for dogs with sensitive skin, said to remain effective for up to six hours.

In the United States, Nala Barry Laboratories introduced under the Pet Organics brand, No-Stress Behaviour Modification Spray, said to reduce anxiety, jumping, chewing, scratching and nervousness in cats and dogs.

"Pets have for some time been seen as a type of fashion accessory, particularly amongst the celebrity set, with the likes of Paris Hilton, Uma Thurman and Geri Halliwell rarely seen without their dog in a bag," Jago said.

"These owners are now truly living up to the age old adage of pet owners looking just like their pets," Jago said. - Sapa-AFP

another report:
Pretty nails are also the newest sensation from U.S. company John Paul Pet. They have introduced Nail Lacquer for Cats and Dogs, a fast drying gloss with nail fortifiers, available in 12 colors. Moving into the fragrance front, South Africa's Kyron Laboratories has introduced Purl Freshness Spray, a baby-powder scented dog grooming spray that doubles as a deodorant and moisturizer.
Stress prevention is also a hot topic in the pet arena. On the stress-free front in the U.S., Nala Barry Laboratories introduced Pet Organics No-Stress Behavior Modification Spray, said to reduce anxiety and nervousness in cats and dogs. Creative Sweets in the U.S. also launched Chill Pills under the Sock Puppet brand. These anti-stress pills contain naturally occurring amino acids used for travel sickness, nervousness and everyday stress.

Another key pet wellness topic is weight control. With obesity in people hitting the forefront of major health discussions, pets are in the hot seat as well. Pet Naturals of Vermont in the U.S. launched K-9 Carb Down, a weight loss supplement containing a Phase 2 Pet Starch Neutralizer that claims to produce an average weight loss of 88 percent for dogs.
***************************************************
some rich & loony human beings responded to pets' 'needs' over-passionately, it's scary!
pets maybe an extension of their owners' lifestyle, but certainly this is preposterous!
you think i will consider LV or Gucci bag fashionable? you think i'm able to appreciate a diamond choker?
but it seems many well-to- do pet owners are buying into the marketers' ploy. or probably, pets are just another fashion accessory to them?

but of course, dogs are lucky to have these kind of owners to pamper them...albeit over-zealous, & potentially dangerous? the owners believe, erroneously, that pets are as guilty of vanity as they do...

wierd human beings: people who are often uncooperative, unsympathetic, loony, absurd and, at times, violent. where's animals' rights?! bring in PETA!

animals deserve consideration of their best interests...please respect the dog's right not to have pain or discomfort unnecessarily inflicted upon him or her.

words of wisdom
Mood:  hug me
Topic: lazy thoughts

If a dog was the teacher, you would learn lots of important stuff like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy-ride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps. Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout; run right back and make friends.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

Topic: lazy thoughts
well well...it's a sunday...and mummy took me out for a walk...to the usual tampines park again...*sigh* i knew it's gonna be very quiet...
but i'm lucky today. i met a boy named 'hockey' ,and a cockatoo (or parrot?!) named 'lito'...
hockey is a JRT, male- new kid on the block...he was rushing home when he saw me...so, we make plans to meet again soon.
and lito is another 4 year old male...lito has been around for a while, but i've never seen him...hmmmmmm...i tried to get a closer look @ him, but he seems to be abit wary of me *scratch head* it's ok, we'll meet again next sunday, & i'll be nice *giggle* anyway, he did say 'hello' to me, literally.it's a beginning of a true friendship!
they became my new friends...now i have another 2 new friends to look out for in tampines park!!!
i wonder if i'll be able to see a chinchilla or a rabbit ? uncle jeff was telling me that i should bring his pet tortise to the park too *giggle*

weekends
Mood:  surprised
Topic: lazy thoughts
usually, there'll be no dogs in park on weekends...i'm not sure why, maybe because their parents went out for parties or took them to more exciting places?
but to me, spending a weekend with mummy is hard to come by, as mummy's job require her to work on shifts & during weekends.
today, mummy took me out to the park, after her morning shift.
however,i was really bored earlier when i was strolling alone in th park...mummy sensed it, and not wanting to disappoint me, hailed a cab & we went to simei: the pet safari!
there'll be dogs & puppies (on sale) for sure...*giggle*

my ramblings
Mood:  loud
Topic: lazy thoughts
there's much to complain about, recently. my activities are limited to eating & sleeping! occasionally, mummy, uncle jeff & auntie ruth will 'patronise' me by playing with me for few minutes....*arrrggghhhh*
i yearn to go out & play, but the weather gets very hot (when it's napping/ sleeping time), then it starts to rain heavily suddenly (especially 1 hour prior to my strolling time @ 6+pm). i guess, someone up there doesn't quite like me *huff*
the weather is getting wierd recently! this couple of months should be a dry season, yet the recent spate of thunderstorms are frightening to me...i'll shiver in a corner *sob sob*
talking about the earth's wanning magnetic fileds...*sigh sigh*

bored @ home
Mood:  mischievious
Topic: lazy thoughts
recently, there's this denger fever scare in this sunny island....and one of the dengue hotspots is 1 street away from where i stay....*sigh* you should know my grandma by now (being protective). i'm not supposed to go out to the park, in case i got sting!
so, my buddy will come & play 'catching' with me, so that i can get some exercize.

anyway, being bored, i began to read some pet news around the globe:
case no. 1:
a st. bernard puppy survives, after swallowing a 13- inch knife!!! *gasp* i don't get it!? i thought all my paw pals hated the 'metallic' feel? we all hate to step on anything that's made of aluminuim, metal, iron, etc...as far as i know, i'll avoid stepping on manholes, by jumping over it (tho' i hate to exert my energy like that)....
my point is: i do pick up stuff on the floor to my mouth...but...but...a 13inch metal (nonetheless, with sharp blade!) ???!!
case no. 2:
2 separate accidents in sydney, involving a dog ripping off a child's face. one is a pet, the other an indentified dog (with an un-identifiable owner).
gruesome...why would my paw mates do that? i'm from sydney, but i don't have that innate aggression....could it be, the children were innocently antagonizing the dogs?
case no. 3:
'Oprah Winfrey' (or her crew?) & Matthew McConaughey tried to 'show-off' in front of camera (to the the american public) that they are involved in a 'pets' rescue efforts in an abandoned hospital during the aftermath of new orleans...tsk tsk...
'What she didn't tell viewers is that McConaughey and the Oprah crew jumped into the effort after two Dallas companies had already begun the rescue: Tenet Healthcare Corp. and Aviation Services Group Inc., which Tenet had hired to evacuate its hospitals.'(quote)
